A Prayer for South Asia
Offered by Mike Umble in morning worship,
Sunday, September 14, 2003

Heavenly Father,
giver of earthly and eternal life,

We pray today for our brothers and sisters in the most populated region on earth – South Asia . The clean and plentiful water that we take for granted here is all too often neither clean nor available in that part of the world, resulting in disease, sickness, thirst, and drought. Lord, in this country, to get water all we have to do is turn the tap. But a young girl in Cambodia must carry buckets of  water from a community well two miles to her house, while a farmer in India has to work his buffalo for hours turning the water wheel that delivers precious water to thirsty crops. So we pray for plentiful and clean water for South Asia – fill up their wells and refresh their fields even as you refresh their spirit.

Amen
