The
music ministry of Lake Shore has a
long and excellent tradition.
In the past, our music ministers
have included Barbara Johnston (a
long-time member of our church), Ed
Wilson (currently Associate Pastor
for Music at
Calder Baptist in Beaumont), and
Richard Aslanian (who recently
became music minister at
Strawbridge Memorial Methodist
in Kingswood, Texas). Our new music
minister is
Daniel Farris, a graduate of
Baylor's Truitt Seminary who is also
teach choir at Waco High School and
the new director of Baylor Showtime.
Like
many of the churches in Waco, we
benefit from the participation of
music students from the excellent
programs at Baylor University and McLennan
Community College. For special
occasions, we assemble small
orchestras to accompany major
choral works. In recent years,
these have included Handel's
Messiah, Christ lag in Todesbanden
by J.S. Bach, The
Magnificat by Giovanni Pergolesi,
and The Story of Christmas by
Alexander Matthews.
